"Don't Bogart* That Loom!"
New Floor Loom Policy

A Place to Weave welcomes and encourages weaving students to try different types of projects and a variety of loom configurations. Due to the popularity and limited number of floor looms, and to be fair to all students, the expectation is that weavers will make a concerted effort to complete their project(s) in a timely manner.

Effective September 1, 2011, all weavers using a floor loom will be required to sign an agreement prior to the start of the project. The agreement will make these principles clear so everyone knows the expectations:

There is a presumption of good faith effort on the part of all parties;
Weavers will commit to working on the project for a minimum of 2 hours per week;
A Place to Weave agrees to provide support, as required, to help ensure successful completion;

Before starting a project, the estimated amount of time to be using the loom will be agreed (for planning & scheduling purposes);

Weavers will agree to pay $30.00 per week for loom rental after a grace period of two (2) weeks beyond the original estimated time to complete the project, if they do not appear to be making a good faith effort to complete and if others are waiting for the loom.

If the weaver abandons the project and if no agreement can be reached about a new project completion date, A Place to Weave may remove the project from the loom so that the next weaver may use it.
Weavers shall be responsible for all project materials/supplies regardless of completion date;

A “Project Card” will be affixed to each loom, identifying the weaver, the type of project, start date and projected end date.

We hope that this new policy will make your project planning easier and more predictable and we look forward to admiring your next weaving creation!
