BEGINNING 4-HARNESS WEAVING

This is a good foundation course for the beginning student to learn how to warp the loom, understand basic weaving theory and techniques learn to read a pattern and beginning pattern drafting. During the course the students will weave a twill sampler and either a scarf or set of four placemats. Knowledge from this course will enable students to continue their study of weaving. Students should bring a 3-ring binder for the 120+ page learning packet.

Schedule: Once a week for 10 sessions:

 Friday mornings 10:00 am – 1:00 pm September 22 – December 8

(Note NO  class on Friday, October 27 or November 24)

Tuition: $ 415.00 ($390.00) includes 30-hours of instruction, use of the studio to work on weaving between classes (this is a requirement that students spend a minimum of 3-4 hours of  time in the studio between classes doing homework), learning packet, yarns for Twill sampler. Second project yarns are additional. No refund for missed classes. Limited to 4 students.

TWO RIGID HEDDLE CLASSES

 

Get ready for the colder weather with this scarf! WEAVE AN ALPACA SCARF

 

Rigid heddle looms produce plain weave cloth on a fun
and portable loom.   In three weeks (9 hours), students
will weave a soft and warm alpaca scarf (7” X 72”)
with a stripe pattern of your design in luscious colors.
The first class will consist of threading the loom using a
direct warping method in which the student will walk
back and forth between the loom and a peg.
The second week we’ll begin weaving.  The student
will take the loom home to weave the scarf.
The third class will consist of finishing the weaving,
taking the scarf off the loom, twisting the fringe and learning how to wash the scarf.
Schacht Cricket Looms will be provided for students use.

Tuesdays, October 10, 17 and 31, 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Limit 4 students. 

Cost: $100.00 ($90.00) plus materials

 

WEAVE A SET OF FOUR PLACEMATS

 

Design a stripe warp of cotton and
weave a set of four (4) placemats
(finished size 12" x 18") using a thick
cotton weft. The first class will be
designing the warp and winding the
warp on a warping board. The second
class will be dressing the loom. The
third and fourth classes will be weaving
the placemats. The fifth class will be
taking the placemats off the loom and
hemming them.

 

Wednesdays, October 11,18, 25

November 8 and 15: 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Limit 4 students. 

Cost: $160.00 ($150.00) plus materials

WEAVING OPTIONS

 

OPTION #1: INDEPENDENT WEAVERS - No weaving assistance is included with this option.

You will have the opportunity to use the studio for as many hours as desired during open studio hours. You can use the library, the computer to design your next project, weave, or just visit with your weaving buddies - as you desire. There is no need to sign up for any particular time - just show up when it is convenient for you. Independent Weavers can sign up for lectures/theory and design help for an additional cost.

Payment in advance for 1, 2, 3, or 4 months.

 

OPTION #2: TWILL WEAVERS – have completed “To Wind A Warp” and “To Thread a Loom” workshops.

You can wind a warp and thread a loom with minimal help. You will have the opportunity to use the studio for as many hours as desired during open studio hours. I will provide assistance as I am available. You can use the library, the computer to design your next project, pick my brain, weave, or just visit with your weaving buddies - as you desire. Individualized instruction geared to your interests and level (beginner through intermediate) on either four-shaft or eight-shaft looms will be available. There will be no need to sign up for any particular time - just show up when it is convenient for you. Theory/lectures are at an additional cost.

Payment in advance for 1, 2, 3, or 4 months.

 

OPTION #3: TABBY WEAVERS – require the most assistance and have not taken “To Wind A Warp” and “To Thread a Loom” workshops.

You will have the opportunity to use the studio for as many hours as desired during open studio hours. I will provide assistance as I am available. You can use the library, the computer to design your next project, pick my brain, weave, or just visit with your weaving buddies – as you desire. Individualized instruction geared to your interest and level on either four-shaft or eight-shaft looms will be available. There will be no need to sign up for any particular time - just show up when it is convenient for you.

Payment in advance for 1, 2, 3, or 4 months.

 

 

 

Rigid Heddle Weavers are welcome to weave on individual projects during regular studio hours.

Cost is $15.00 ($10.00) per hour (two hour minimum) payable on day of lesson.
Or you may do TWILL WEAVER OPEN STUDIO.

Looms are available for use (in the studio only) if you don’t own your own loom.

Choose the number of months that you would like to study. At the end of the month(s), if the project is not completed, then you will have the option of purchasing additional lesson time by the month(s) at the number of month(s) fee; or removing the unfinished project from the loom and purchasing the materials.

Cost:

4 Consecutive Months: September - December
$485.00 ($460.00) plus materials

3 Consecutive Months:
Sept – Nov $380.00 ($360.00) plus materials
Oct - Dec  $380.00 ($360.00) plus materials

2 Consecutive Months: September - October
Sept – Oct $265.00 ($250.00) plus materials
Oct - Nov  $265.00 ($250.00) plus materials
Nov - Dec  $265.00 ($250.00) plus materials

1 Month: $140.00 ($130.00 plus materials;

Months run from the 1st to the 30th/31st

Additional optional costs:
Design help - $20.00 per hour (one hour minimum)

 

OPTION #2: TWILL WEAVERS

You will pay for up to four (4) months in advance. For that one tuition payment, you will have the opportunity to use the studio for as many hours as desired during open studio hours. You will have taken both Lectures/demonstrations “To Wind A Warp” and “To Thread a Loom” and require minimal help to thread your loom. At the end of the month(s), if the project is not completed, then you will have the option of purchasing additional lesson time by the month(s) at the number of month(s) fee; or removing the unfinished project from the loom and purchasing the materials.

4 Consecutive Months: September - December
$530.00 ($500.00) plus materials

3 Consecutive Months:
